We held our team building at Durhans White Beach Resort in Tabuelan which is in the Northwestern part of Cebu. Around 8 am, we were already gathered at the North Bus Terminal waiting anxiously for that one Morning Bus that will drop us directly at the front gate of the Resort. The Fare was quite cheap compared that of the vhire. However. it took us four hours to reach our destination because of all that stop and go to drop and receive passangers. On a vhire though, it will only takes you about two hours and half.
We arrived at Durhans around noon, the weather was just calm. So after taking our Lunch, we welcomed the inviting gesture of the beach and took a quick deep. Little did we know that in a few hours, the weather will be waving around its southwest moonson mood swings. The sky turned gloomy and wind just blew strongly. Though it was just accompanied by occasional scattered rain, but man! with a bit of sand and amplified by the wind, the raindrops leave a bit of sting when your in the open area.
Despite the weather, we still managae to relax and just have fun. Over a glass.. make that one bottle.. okay, a few bottles of medium intoxicating liquid.

We just had our team building five days ago. We headed to the south side of Cebu, to the idyllic town of Badian.. And for two days, Stockli Beach House #3 was our humble abode.
Straight from our 10:00 pm – 6:00 am shift, we headed to McDonalds to have a sumptuous breakfast. After the meal, we rode a jeepney going to colon to procure some provisions for the team’s 2 days excursion. We then proceeded to Cebu South Bus Terminal to embark on a bus that will finally bring us to our destination. The regular fare was Php 106.00, supposedly. However much to our surprise, the fare seems negotiable. The Ceres Liner conductor ended charging us Php100.00 each and Librando Bus (on our way back to cebu city) only charged us P93.00.
After a 3 hours on the bus, a 15 minute tricycle ride (fare = Php 15.00) and around a 100 meter short walk along the fine white sandy beach, we finally reach our destination, Stockli Beach. Stockli Beach is Located on the adjacent beach front of the Cebu International Golf and Resort.
The compound is comprise mainly of four Cottages/Houses, each with its own wide front yards. Ours was cottage/house #3 which is good for 8 persons. But the good thing about this cottage is its size. In fact, it was even big and spacious enough to house all 14 members of the team.
The caretakers lend us some cooking pans and utensils. And you can have the option to cook your food on a stove for Php75.00 per session or you can have it cooked; the traditional way, that is, cooking it with fire woods. Of course, you have to look for your own fire wood. They also allowed us to use the fridge for free.

I stumbled upon this web page on my StumbleUpon.com account: http://westegg.com/unmaintained/carnegie/win-friends.html#one which outlined in a nutshell ‘How to Win Friends and Influence People’, a book written by Dales Carnegie from way back 1936. Its succinct conclusive summary is an inspiration which has compelled me to always commit it to memory from now on. Hence, I may learn and hopefully, develop my social influence.
Part I: Fundamental Techniques in Hand
1. Don’t criticize, condemn or complain.
2. Give honest and sincere appreciation.
3. Arouse in the other person an eager want.
Part II: Six Ways to Make People Like You.
1. Smile.
2. Become genuinely interested in other people. 3. Remember that a person’s name is to that person the sweetest and most important sound in any language.
4. Be a good listener. Encourage others to talk about themselves.
5. Talk in terms of the other person’s interests.
6. Make the other person feel important – and do it sincerely.
Part III: Win People to Your Way of Thinking
1. The only way to get the best of an argument is to avoid it.
2. Show respect for the other person’s opinions. Never say, “You’re wrong”.
3. If you are wrong, admit it quickly and emphatically.
4. Begin in a friendly way.
5. Get the other person saying “yes, yes” immediately.
6. Let the other person do a great deal of the talking. 7. Let the other person feel that the idea is his or hers.
8. Try honestly to see things from the other person’s point of view.
9. Be sympathetic with the other person’s ideas and desires.
10. Appeal to the nobler motives.
11. Dramatize your ideas.
12. Throw down a challenge.
Part IV: How to Change People Without Giving Offense or Arousing Resentment
A leader’s job often includes changing your people’s attitudes and behavior. Some suggestions to accomplish this:
1. Begin with praise and honest appreciation.
2. Call attention to people’s mistakes indirectly.
3. Talk about your own mistakes before criticizing the other person.
4. Ask questions instead of giving direct orders.
5. Let the other person save face.
6. Praise the slightest improvement and praise every improvement. Be “hearty in your approbation and lavish in your praise.”
7. Give the other person a fine reputation to live up to.
8. Use encouragement. Make the fault seem easy to correct.
9. Make the other person happy about doing the thing you suggest.
